Modern Legacy

The legacy of blue jeans has definitely evolved since when it was first invented. The use for jeans has transitioned from a practical use in a work setting to more of a fashion or casual wear statement. In the modern world today, jeans are advertised in different known clothing brands that are broadcasted around malls. Certain stores such as Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, American eagle, the gap, H&M,  and many more. Within each store, there are different well-known brands that draw customers into to purchase those products. Brands such as Calvin Kleine, Lee’s, Lucky Brand Jeans, Wrangler, Dolce & Gabbana, True Religion, Armani Jeans and Skyar are among the few.

Some clothing companies have transitioned from selling one known product to another well know product over time. For example,  the company Lee was founded in 1889 in Kansas by Henry David Lee. The company initially focused on dungarees and jackets made from denim fabrics but eventually produced jeans with a zipper fly. The Company Wrangler first created the product of overalls in 1897 and it was called the Blue Bell Overall Company 1)“Our History.” Wrangler USA – English. https://www.wrangler.com/about/history.html.. However, they then transitioned to creating their first pair of jeans in 1947 by celebrity tailor Rodeo Ben and the name changed to the Wrangler Company 2)Ibid.,. Professional cowboy’s named Jim Shoulders and Bill Linderman tested the jeans out to make sure there the product had good durability, quality, and authenticity. The purpose of these types of jeans were for rodeo use. Today, the wrangler company advertises jeans for country music fans 3)Ibid., .

Moreover, celebrities that endorse certain companies that sell jeans can heavily influence the interest in customers to buy the product. If a company asks a celebrity to wear their jean in an advertisement or on the front of a magazine cover, it can inherently increase business to positively progress. Celebrities like Justin Bieber and Brooke Shields have endorsed Calvin Klein and have been seen on the front of magazine covers wearing a Calvin Klein clothing items. In addition, some celebrities like Khloe Kardashian or Heidi Klum have created their own personal fashion line of jeans.
