Most notably known as QR codes these are square black and white boxes that contain massive amounts of information. The broader category of 2D Codes encompasses codes that have staggered black and white formations.
QR codes are able to direct the users to certain websites, open certain applications and many other things that can be coded into the 2D barcode.
The range of possibilities that QR codes have are much wider because of “a typical 2D barcode can represent up to about 2000 characters of information” (Woodford). The options for what is embedded into the image are far more expansive.
