When going over the timeline we are going to try to implant the dates on the screen while I will funnel out facts based on the date. For example; the date “1997” may come across the screen and I would give the information about the test dummy that was prevalent during this date, therefore I’d say “In 1997, the Hybrid III crash test dummy, made by gm, became the standard for all crash test dummies during testing.” These dates will give the viewer the knowledge of when exactly the technological advancements were and why they were important. This also allows us to somewhat bring the whole project together, since it is all essentially on one timeline. The timeline goes through all of the antecedents of the dummy and also how the dummy became the measurement tool it is today

Frame 8: Fading into the frame will be a slide that says “Antecedents”

Frame 9: Kevin will return to the frame and speak about the antecedents prior to the Hybrid III. There will be examples of animals and human cadavers and how they have evolved.

EX: I will address the antecedents that came before the Hybrid III crash test dummy. I will talk about the animals used and how scientists used human cadavers as early test dummies before the Hybrid III. I will then address how the test dummies were essentially modelled after mannequins. I will then go into the background of why we need crash test dummies in order to test auto vehicles safety measures

Frame 10: Kevin will be cut from the frame and there will be a short video Inside IIHS: Crash Test Dummies at Work” YouTube video. 2:27. In the 1930’s the automobile death toll was featured in a major piece of dramatic journalism .JC Furnas’ article “And Sudden Death” sparked the National Safety Council to approach the automobile industry for financial support to work on prevention projects. Since then, there have been many tests completed to help change the types of dummies and to continue to build on the safety of vehicles. For example, there are now star rating systems in place; these ranks from one to five, with five being the highest safety rating and one being the lowest. These star ratings are required by federal law, and every year each new vehicle is tested for front, side, and rear impacts and given a star rating.

Frame 12: Haley is cut and Nick and Kevin are in the frame “Thank you so much for watching our documentary on Crash Test Dummies!
